Here you will find the official guide to the Canoe Trail produced by Stockport Council The River Mersey through South Manchester is moving water and with occasional small rubble weirs has been graded at certain points as Grade II. With the steep banks careful consideration has been given to the canoes available. Sit On Tops are ideal for the unaccompanied paddler, any forrays into the river are quickly remidied by simply climbing back on and off you go again. The large Open Boats hold a lot more water and to try to empty any water from the bank may at certain points be tricky, thats why you'll be with one of our coaches who if needed will empty your boat on the river and have you soon back in.
